In May, the Kade Village School on Fiji's Koro Island received much needed improvements.
A new teacher's quarters was handed over by LDS Charities, which is funded by personal contributions from members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and friends from around the world.
The organization bought the material and the villagers built the house. The new quarters will accomodate the pre-school teacher.
The Kade school was destroyed by Tropical Cyclone Winston in 2016. Rebuilding of the school is near completion, and a new classroom has been added for pre-school students.
The Fiji Sun newspaper reported that Paul Whippy, the Fijian manager for LDS Charities, disclosed the organization is exploring options to provide better water supply for the school. The school's water, supplied by a reservoir on the mountain, has suffered from disruptions.
The water project is being conducted in conjunction with the school committee and the ministry of education.
