Temple President in Tonga Passes Away

Taniela A. Langi passed away in Tonga on 5 September.

He had been serving alongside his wife, Sister ’Anaseini V. Langi, since 2016 as president of the Nuku'alofa Tonga Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

   

   

His passing was attributed to complications associated with pneumonia.

President and Sister Langi have three children and eight grandchildren.

He loved rugby and other sports. He also enjoyed singing and cultural dancing.

The Pacific Area Presidency of the Church, Elder Ian S. Ardern, Elder K. Brett Nattress and Elder Kazuhiko Yamashita, made the following statement following President Langi's passing:

"We join with President Langi's dear family and his many friends in Tonga and overseas in mourning his passing. He served his family and countless other families and individuals, on both sides of the veil, through his years of faithful service. We pray for Sister Langi and their family, with the confidence, through our faith in Jesus Christ, of a glorious resurrection and a joyous family reunion in the next life."
