The Kingdom of Tonga has approximately 65,000 members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which amounts to less than half of one percent of the 16+ million members of the Church worldwide.
Yet it has a comparatively large number of mission presidents serving worldwide.
The Church has over 400 mission presidents serving, alongside their wives, at the moment. Three of those couples are Tongan.
In July, when their missionary service concludes, they will be succeeded by three other couples, who are also from Tonga.

Sione Fifita Tuione and Moala Fe’aomoe Lupe Sika Tuione. President and Sister Tuione are currently serving in the Tonga Nuku’alofa Mission. They were both born and raised in Tonga. They have five children. Before being called as a mission president, President Tuione served as a bishop and as a stake president in the Auckland New Zealand Manukau Stake. Sister Tuione served in many callings including as a counselor in the stake primary presidency.
Sitiveni Fe’Aomoehala Fehoko and Kilisitina Tu’itamala Langi Fehoko. President and Sister Fehoko are currently serving in the Papua New Guinea Lae Mission. They were both born and raised in Tonga. They have seven children. Prior to serving as a mission president, President Fehoko served as a bishop and a stake president among other callings. Sister Fehoko served previously as a stake and ward Primary president, and stake and ward Relief Society president.
Inoke Fotu Kupu and Moana M. Fatani Kupu. President and Sister Kupu are currently serving in the Zambia Lusaka Mission. They were both born and raised in Tonga. They have four children. Prior to serving as a mission president, President Kupu served as a bishop and a stake president among other callings. Sister Kupu served previously as a gospel doctrine teacher and is a former stake Young Women president and ward Relief Society president.
’Isileli T. Fatani and Milika M. Fatani. President and Sister Fatani will begin serving in the Papau New Guinea Lae Mission in July 2019. They were both born and raised in Tonga. They have five children. Prior to serving as a mission president, President Fatani served as a bishop, a counselor in a stake presidency and a counselor in a mission presidency. Sister Fatani is a former ward Young Women president.
Hakeai V. Piutau and ‘Ana Seini Folau Piutau. President and Sister Piutau will begin their service in the Tonga Nuku'alofa Mission beginning in July of this year. They were both born and raised in Tonga. They have five children. Before being called to serve as a mission president, President Piutau served as bishop and as a stake president. Sister Piutau has had many callings including Stake and ward Primary president.
President Alvin L. and Sister H. Mokiana Sika. President and Sister Sika have been called to serve in the Zambia Lusaka Mission beginning in July of this year. They were both born and raised in Tonga. They have two children. Before being called to serve as a mission president, President Sika served as Young Men president and as a stake president. Sister Sika has had many callings including stake Primary and Relief Society president.
