Elder Meliula Fata, Area Seventy in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, welcomed H.E. Jesus “Gary” Domingo— Ambassador for the Philippines to New Zealand, Cook Islands, Fiji, Niue, Samoa and Tonga—to Samoa at a gathering in Apia on 28 August.
The Ambassador, who was accompanied by Philippines Consul General to Samoa, Mr. Jim Donovan, noted that Samoan Church members, like the Filipino people, were family and spiritually-oriented which created a cultural bond.
Several former Latter-day Saint missionaries who served in the Philippines attended the get together.
Director of Public Affairs for the Church, Sapele Faalogo, commented, “All went well, and it was great to see the lively exchange between the ambassador and the returned missionaries."
“He enjoyed his time and shared some great counsel and words of wisdom with those gathered.”
In recent weeks Ambassador Domingo met with former missionaries in Tonga, and also with Church members in Wellington.
The diplomat has a strong focus on making friends and working with members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to strengthen individuals, families and communities.
