Samoan Australian Brings Community Together

"The leader of the Samoan community in Mildura, Faavae 'Sunny' Vui is a great organiser of his people," according to a report in today's Sunraysia Daily.

The article continues:

"The highlight of is leadership role was the unfurling of the Samoan flag for the first time at Samoan Independence Day celebration held in Mildura last Saturday, June 25.
When Sunny arrived from New Zealand in 1998 there were only three Samoan families living in Mildura.

The word quickly spread that Mildura was a beautiful and safe place to raise a family and by 2000 the number of Samoan families living in Mildura had grown considerably.

Sunny, 56, was made a councillor with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 2000 and his role is assisting the minister in uniting the multicultural congregation in the Mildura district."
