On June 13, 2021, Elder Neil L. Andersen, Sister Jean B. Bingham, and Sister Sharon Eubank participated in a Face to Face event for single adults ages 31 and older around the world.
Fiji woman, Tieri Fatiaki, was one of many people living in the South Pacific who watched the broadcast. Here is how Tieri reacted to the broadcast.
Tonight's devotional was so inspirational. I loved the different experiences that were shared by the nine individuals and how their faith, and increasing faith in our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, helped them scale, go around and moved their own mountains.
I loved the fact that each person, while going through their trials, knew that they can't do it alone, they needed a higher power, they need the help of Heavenly Father and our Saviour.
Juliet shared that she could see the Lord's hand in her life because she "surrendered" her grief to Him. Such comfort to know that our Heavenly Father and His son, Jesus Christ are always there besides us, ALWAYS!
Thoughts of my experience came to mind while watching and listening - how I surrendered and pleaded in prayer with Heavenly Father that I couldn't do (quit the bad-habits that I knew weren't pleasing to Him) by myself, that I needed Their added power to overcome. The knowledge of the healing and overcoming power of the Saviour’s Atonement gave comfort and confidence to overcome the trials along the way. It sure hasn't been easy trying to stay on the covenant path but great Power comes from knowing and understanding our Saviour’s Atonement and how it can help everyone of us in our trials.
Sister Eubank shared that the Lord is here to help us move our mountains and if we have the desire to believe, that is enough. The Lord knows us and is aware of our strengths and weaknesses and we can be successful if we turn to Him in obedience, in prayer and in devotion in the temple.
Just like Michelle, losing myself in volunteering more days in the temple helped save myself, and find myself, and helped me find comfort to be comfortable in being single. He knows my desire to have an eternal family of my own. I just need to keep on the covenant path and just keep striving and He will grant in His own time, when I'm good and ready.
Sister Bingham in her closing remarks reminded us to "remember that we have strength and that we have faith." There is power in knowing that, we just need to realize it ─ such a confidence booster.
Elder Andersen reminded again what President Nelson shared, that we are not to MINIMIZE the faith that we already have and that we don't need a PERFECT faith to access His Perfect power. Brought to mind Elder Holland's talk ─ Lord, I Believe; and President Eyring's ─ Mountains to climb. Both talks emphasizes the phrase "Be believing!" as the Saviour taught.
We are blessed to live in an era where we have been taught, continue to be taught, ways to increase our faith in Jesus Christ and Be Believing! Makes me appreciate and be grateful to be a member of His true Church, His restored gospel and His Atonement.
The broadcast will be available at 4pm this Sunday (20 June) in several Pacific languages. Learn more at pacific.churchofjesuschrist.org.
