The word patriarch is used two ways in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints:
- An office of responsibility in the Melchizedek Priesthood. The calling of a patriarch is to give special patriarchal blessings to members of the Church. Patriarchs usually serve in this position for the rest of their lives.
- Another term for fathers. Adam was the first patriarch, and he was responsible for blessing his posterity and helping them live righteously.
