Leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Vanuatu had to set up tents with video screens to accommodate overflow congregations wanting to view the annual General Conference of the Church.
Ni-Vanuatu Latter-day Saint, Christiane Tounguen, says the main chapel viewing areas at the Port Vila and Black Sands meetinghouses were full, so tents, chairs and video screens were set up in the church grounds.
Members and guests of the Church are invited to attend general conferences each April and October, to hear inspiring messages given by prophets, apostles and other Latter-day Saint leaders.
Mrs Tounguen says general conference is "a time of learning and encouragement. A time of repairing and reflecting."
She believes a big factor that has contributed to the increase in numbers coming to view the conferences is the fact that the English talks are being translated and interpreted in Bislama.
