This is a story of cause and effect. Because of the kindness of women in Rarotonga, Cook Islands, grateful young mothers in Tongareva have felt the effects of Christ-like service.
A group of women from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Rarotonga, Cook Islands presented 111 Newborn Baby Packs to members of the parliament representing the north islands, Pukapuka, Nassau, Penrhyn, Manihiki, and Rakahanga. The handover was attended by the Honorable Minister Tingika Elikana.

Pa Tauakume-Pepe, who serves in the Church women’s leadership shared that she was “grateful to all our dedicated sisters for their wonderful contributions. Acts of kindness like this not only provide immediate relief but also foster hope and comfort to those who need it most.”
Through their service, these women of Rarotonga exemplify Heavenly Father and the Saviour’s love, following the counsel of Mosiah 2:17: “...that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God.” Their efforts continue to strengthen families and bring light and hope to children across the islands.
Weeks later, a message of gratitude came on behalf of the families of Tongareva, wishing to express their gratitude for the much-needed gifts of kindness.

While we are surrounded by the beauty of the Pacific, access to the goods that families need is limited. This means that simple necessities like diapers & wipes are luxuries we often do without.
"This gesture has brought our community closer together. The Church's generosity has shown us a beautiful example of selfless service and love. It has reassured our families that there are people who care about our well-being and are willing to go to great lengths to help us.
"We offer our deepest thanks to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for this wonderful act of charity.
"The gifts were not just physical items; they were a message of hope and love. We are so grateful for your thoughtfulness and for making a real difference in the lives of our children and our families.”
