Elder O. Vincent Haleck, president of the Pacific Area of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, announced this past weekend the new presidency of the Church's Auckland New Zealand Waterview Stake.
A stake is a group of congregations in a geographical location, similar to a diocese in some other churches.
Elder Haleck was accompanied at the Church's semi-annual stake conference in the Auckland suburb of Waterview by Elder Paul N. Lekias, Area Seventy.
Members of the new stake presidency are: Michael Fonoti Satele, president; Sione Uhotau Kaufusi, first counsellor; and Taulauniu Seumanu, second counsellor.
They succeed the former stake presidency: Jeffrey Nikoia; Steven Lopati; and James Cocker.
Stake presidencies and other congregational leaders in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serve without pay, often ministering to fellow members of the Church on weeknights and weekends. They hold down full-time jobs to provide for their families apart from their voluntary service in the Church.
