A new mission of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will begin serving communities across southeast Queensland on July 1, 2026.
The Australia Brisbane South Mission will be led by President Greg Trimble and Sister Kristyn Trimble.
President and Sister Trimble share a lifelong love of missionary work and service. President Trimble served in the Michigan Lansing Mission and has spent many years teaching and sharing messages of faith. Sister Trimble is an author and former human resources director with a passion for strengthening families. Their daughter is currently serving as a missionary in Denmark and their son in Argentina. With President and Sister Trimble preparing to begin their assignment in Australia, the entire family will soon be serving in different parts of the world.
DOWNLOAD“Our greatest desire is to learn the stories of the people we serve, to become lifelong friends, and to help others come closer to Jesus Christ,” President and Sister Trimble said. “We can’t wait to serve the people of southeast Queensland and serve alongside them.”
Elder Jared V. Ormsby, Area Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, said, “We are so grateful for President and Sister Trimble and the leadership they will provide to the new mission. We look forward to welcoming them.”
The new mission is being created from areas previously assigned to the Australia Brisbane Mission.
Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints have been gathering in Queensland for more than 150 years. From the first meetings held in Brisbane during the 1870s, the Church has grown steadily throughout the region. The organisation of the Australia Brisbane Mission in 1973 and the opening of the Brisbane Australia Temple in 2003 marked important milestones in that growth.
The creation of the Australia Brisbane South Mission and the announcement of the Brisbane Australia South Temple are among the latest developments for the Church in Queensland.
The Australia Brisbane South Mission is one of five new missions being created across the Pacific Area following the Church’s October 2025 announcement of 55 new missions worldwide. The additions will bring the total number of missions to 506. Church leaders said the new missions will help accommodate a growing number of missionaries and provide greater support to local congregations and communities.
Missionaries of the Church volunteer to serve full time, teaching about Jesus Christ, strengthening local congregations and participating in community service.
“The creation of the new Australia Brisbane South Mission and the announcement of the Brisbane Australia South Temple will be a great blessing to members, friends of the Church and communities throughout the region,” Elder Ormsby said. “We look forward to continuing to invite all to come unto our Saviour Jesus Christ and partake of the blessings that He has for each one of us.”
