In addition to being Co-Leader of the Maori Party and a Member of New Zealand’s Parliament, Marama Fox is also a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She is one of many Latter-day Saints and others who will be going to see the new feature length documentary, “Meet the Mormons,” which will be screened in selected theatres and other venues in New Zealand over the coming weeks.
The 78 minutes documentary, produced by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, was written and directed by American film-maker Blair Treu.
It profiles six Latter-day Saints (sometimes called “Mormons”) from various backgrounds and walks of life.

For Mrs Fox, “The movie is more than just about Mormons and Mormonism — it’s about faith, family, volunteerism, community service, charity and helping those in need.”
“While I love being a member of my faith, I am also deeply respectful of and grateful for my relatives, friends and others of different faiths. This movie is about that wonderful New Zealand value many of us cherish — of working together, despite our differences, to help those around us who are suffering.”
Gold coin donations at screenings of the movie around New Zealand on 9 and 10 February will go to Caritas Aotearoa New Zealand.
Caritas is a non-profit Catholic Church organization which provides emergency aid and long-term development support to individuals, families and communities locally and worldwide.

In 2011 The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints produced a number of short videos featuring individual members of the Church, including some from New Zealand.
One New Zealander featured in one of these "I'm a Mormon" videos was former world squash champion, Leilani Rorani.
