Mormons Discuss Faith with New Zealand Journalist

Four members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from Auckland recently spoke to North Shore Times reporter Sarah Coddington about their experiences as Mormons. Her article, published in today’s edition of the North Shore Times, also dispels a commonly held misconception about Mormons.

The article clarifies the fact that individuals and groups practising polygamy are not in any way affiliated with Mormons, who disbanded the practice over a century ago.

Some of the other topics covered in the feature include the Mormon approach to morality, service in the community and healthy living.

Idaho-born Church leader Elder Brent H. Nielson, a member of the Church’s Pacific Area Presidency and a resident of Takapuna, joined with three home-grown Kiwi Mormons to talk about their beliefs and how being Latter-day Saints helps them and their families.

North Shore residents Evelyn Martin, Eva Roding and Matt Murray shared some of their beliefs and reasons why they choose to be members of the Church of Jesus Christ in the article.
