Twenty-eight senior missionaries and local leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints hosted a Christmas event for the Shoalhaven apartment complex in Takapuna on 2nd December.
All the residents of the 163-unit apartment complex and their friends were invited to the event.
The purpose was to share the Light the World campaign, welcome in the Christmas season, and meet those in the complex where the area office senior missionaries live.
Each resident wore a name tag and mingled, getting to know each other better.
Missionaries are volunteers away from their homes and families for a period of one year to twenty-three months.
Activities for the children included a fishpond, a colouring center, puzzles, and lawn games.
A sausage sizzle was sponsored by Takapuna North Community Trust, with Sara Thorne, the Community Coordinator, volunteering her time for the third year, along with helpers Mula and Elle, also from Takapuna North Community Trust.
Attendees had the opportunity to help assemble hygiene kits with donated items from the residents, missionaries and local businesses.
