Medical Supplies Delivered to Majuro Hospital

26 boxes of medical and hygiene supplies were delivered this month to Majuro Hospital in the Marshall Islands.

The supplies were donated by LDS Charities and delivery made possible by the leaders and crew of USS Pearl Harbor, currently engaged in the “Pacific Partnership 2013” humanitarian tour of the South Pacific.

The USS Pearl Harbor arrived in Majuro in early July after stops in other Pacific ports including Apia, Samoa and Nuku’alofa, Tonga.

"We are very grateful for the supplies,” Majuro Hospital administrator Rosabella Marty told local media.

In addition to the medical supplies, medical and dental professionals and volunteers from the US, Australia and New Zealand have given their time and expertise over the last several weeks to offer free medical and dental services, hold health fairs, teach classes and offer immunizations in several Pacific communities.

One Latter-day Saint missionary said, “I was impressed by the Pacific Partnership who offered their services to help so many people. The doctors, nurses and many other volunteers were so generous to give of their services.”

LDS Charities projects are made possible by donations by members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and others, and by the service of volunteers.
