The Samoa Observer recently reported that a team of more than 50 medical specialists from Brigham Young University was in Samoa again screening school children for rheumatic fever. Brigham Young University is located in Provo, Utah, and is operated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Under the direction of Professor Lori Allen, the group has been coming to Samoa annually since 2009. She noted, "At the end of this trip, we would have done an initial screening on 5000 children and we would have seen more than 20,000 children.”
