Elder Larry S. Kacher, General Authority Seventy, shared a touching story in the first session of General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on April 2, 2022 (MDT).
When Elder Larry S. Kacher was a young missionary serving in Tahiti, he was asked to administer to a sick infant.
Elder Kacher said, “We laid our hands on his head and blessed him to get better. His health began to improve, but then he fell sick again. A second time we blessed him but with the same result. A third request came. We pleaded with the Lord that His will be done. Shortly after, this little spirit returned to his heavenly home.”
Elder Kacher explained they wanted the infant to live, but the Lord had other plans.
“Accepting [the Saviour’s] will in place of our own,” said Elder Kacher, “is key to finding joy no matter our circumstances.”
He added, “Our faith in Him can and will guide us through the complexities of life. Indeed, we will find that there is simplicity on the other side of life’s complexities as we remain “[steadfast] in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope.”
