Leader Urges Latter-day Saints in Fiji to Study the Words of Living Prophets and Apostles

Elder Keith P. Walker, an Area Seventy in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, met with members and guests of the Church this past weekend during the faith’s Suva North Fiji Stake conference.

Elder Walker and his wife, Marilyn, travelled from Australia to attend the two day conference.

Elder Walker encouraged the 1,100 people in attendance to study and apply the words of living prophets and apostles.

In particular, he quoted from Church leaders who spoke at this April’s General Conference, a twice yearly gathering of Latter-day Saints in Salt Lake City which is also viewed and listened to via technology in Fiji and around the world.

He said that the world needed modern-day revelation to help us face the challenges in our homes, communities and nations.

“It is not enough to just be followers of Jesus Christ. We need to become true disciples of Jesus Christ,” Elder Walker said.

“Studying and following the counsel of the Lord’s prophets and apostles on the earth today will help us to become such.”

Local Latter-day Saint leaders also spoke at the Suva North Fiji Stake conference.
