Leaders, staff and missionaries based at the Pacific Area Administration Office of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Takapuna, Auckland are preparing for the Christmas season.
Signs on the outside and inside of the office building point passers-by and visitors to Mormon.org, inviting them to view a short video titled, “Light the World, ” and to serve others in Christ-like ways every day from 1 December to Christmas Day.

“Christmas is a special time of year for billions of people, and Latter-day Saints are no exception,” said the Church’s director of public affairs in the South Pacific, Richard Hunter.
“The Light the World initiative is simple and powerful. It invites all to remember and be grateful for the birth of Jesus Christ. And then to do something, every day, for another person. It might be as simple as sending a hand-written note of love and appreciation to a parent—to volunteering at a soup kitchen. The important thing is to celebrate the birth of our Saviour through serving others in Christ-like ways.”
Hunter added, “As we talk with people about the Light the World initiative—Latter-day Saints and our friends in other faiths—it’s great to see how excited they become.
“Just yesterday, in a radio interview in Fiji, a member of our church told the announcer about the Light the World video and service advent calendar.
"The announcer was so taken by it she said her family would participate in it, and then she would talk about it each day in December, on the radio, encouraging others to do the same.”
