LDS Charities Donates Water Tanks to Fiji School

LDS Charities, a humanitarian arm of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, recently donated two 10,000 litre water tanks to the Magodro District School in Fiji.

The school is situated in the Nausori highlands in the interior of Viti Levu.  The entire area has been affected by a recent drought.

The tanks will supply water to the 250 students and teachers as well as 800 village community members.

Frank Stanford, assistant welfare manager for LDS Charities in Fiji, said, “Water is essential to the success of the school and the village.  We were trying to find a way to help.”

The tanks will be managed by the school committee.

A handover ceremony was held at the school last month.  To show their appreciation for the donation, students entertained the LDS Charities team by singing songs and performing a play, “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.”
