New Zealand based Charitable Trust ‘Furniture for Schools’ (FFS), Tonga Women’s International Social Club (TWISC), and LDS Charities (the humanitarian arm of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints), brought assistance to the Women and Children Crisis Centre (WCCC) in Nuku’alofa, Tonga this week.
The groups brought donated tables, chairs, children’s reading books and toys to the centre on Thursday 6 December.
WCCC Director, Ofa Likiliki, had previously been contacted by Sister Susan Parr, Vice-President of TWISC, as club members were preparing hygiene kits for the women and children who stay at the Crisis Centre.
Likiliki and staff team leader, Lesila Toia, who received the items, both expressed sincere gratitude and explained that the much-needed furniture, books and toys would be transported to and used in their safe house nearby.
Over the past four years, FFS has partnered with LDS Charities and delivered approximately 100 containers of donated school furniture, books and sports uniforms to schools in Fiji, Samoa, Tonga, Marshall Islands, Kiribati and Vanuatu.
