Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the South Pacific are reacting to the first ever live Family Home Evening (FHE) broadcast through Facebook.
The event took place Monday, January 30th, at the home of Elder O. Vincent Haleck, Pacific Area President of the Church and his wife, Sister Peggy Haleck. A typical Family Home Evening might include a family activity, spiritual thought, music and prayer.
Church leaders encourage families to hold a weekly FHE, with the intent to strengthen family relationships and build faith in Jesus Christ.
Since the event, Latter-day Saints from Tonga, American Samoa, Australia, New Zealand and the United States are among those using the hashtag #PacificFHEGoals to share their reactions to the live event.

Many who participated in the live broadcast took time to review the Pacific Area goals for 2017 and fill out personal and family goal cards. Others just tuned in from home with family and friends.
The Tommy and Saismoa Laban family from Auckland, New Zealand joined from the beach.
“We planned to watch it there [at the beach] as it was Auckland Anniversary (holiday) and knew we wouldn’t make it home in time,” Saisamoa said. “We all wanted to be a part of it and thankful for technology that we were able to do this at the beach.”
