13-year-old Auckland teenager, Tevarii, is a busy guy. He starts each school day with a one hour scripture class at his church, then school, then homework, then sports.
Throw in meals, time with family and friends and there aren't a lot of hours left in the week.
So when Tevarii heard that his church was about to start a new inititiave especially for children and youth to help them balance their lives by setting and working towards academic, social, spiritual and physical goals, he was interested.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will commence a new global effort for children and youth that will become available to millions of young Latter-day Saints beginning in January 2020.
This Sunday, 29 September, children, youth, parents and leaders across the world will watch a video featuring Church leaders explaining the new focus and resources.
The effort will provide children, youth, families, and leaders with personalized opportunities to grow spiritually, socially, physically, and intellectually through meaningful activities, service, gospel learning, and inspired goal setting.
This Sunday’s special broadcast will be shown worldwide, including in hundreds of South Pacific meetinghouses.
The video will be shown on September 29, 2019, during the class hour of regular Sunday meetings for all adults and all youth and children ages 8 (or turning 8) to 18 in 2020.
A follow up broadcast “Face to Face” event with Elder Gerrit W. Gong of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles and other Church leaders is scheduled for November 17, 2019.
This live event will be broadcast in 18 languages worldwide to help prepare children, youth, parents, and leaders to implement the new Children and Youth initiative.
The Church has also prepared a mobile app entitled “Gospel Living,” as well as a website: ChildrenandYouth.ChurchofJesusChrist.org. Print materials will also be distributed to families this Sunday.
