The Pacific Area of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints launched a new app this week, aimed at helping people set and achieve their own spiritual and temporal goals.
The app, “Walk in the Light of Christ,” is based on the Church’s Pacific Area Focus for 2020, as presented earlier this year by the Pacific Area Presidency.
It is now available for download at the App Store and Google Play Store. It can also be downloaded at www.walkinthelightofchrist.org.
Individuals can set their own goals regarding Sabbath day observance and worship, seeking the blessings of the temple, becoming spiritually and temporally self-reliant, and serving others.
The app contains resources such as videos, scriptures, quotes and messages from Church leaders.
Tania Torea, a Church leader from Porirua, New Zealand, tested the app and her response was enthusiastic: “I’ll be using the Walk in the Light of Christ app. My favourite feature is the lamp that lights up when I complete a goal. It reminds me of the parable of the ten virgins found in Matthew 25. Those that were wise had their oil ready to light their lamps and were prepared for the promised coming of the Bridegroom, our Lord, Jesus Christ. I like the thought that these goals are preparing me for that blessed day."
Kyle Edmonds, another Church leader from Porirua, said the app was “super easy to use, intuitive and simple.”
A recent letter about the new app from the Area Presidency stated: "We are grateful for this new resource and encourage everyone to explore it to see the great benefits it offers.”
