Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in French Polynesia are marking the 175th anniversary of the Relief Society this month.
The Relief Society is one of the oldest and largest women’s organisations in the world, established on 17 March 1842.
Each Latter-day Saint congregation the world over has a local Relief Society whose members meet regularly to strengthen each other’s faith; respond to the needs of individuals, families and communities; and to foster friendships.
Watch a video (below) featuring French Polynesian women talking about the positive impact of Relief Society in their own lives and the lives of others.
Excerpts (translated from French to English) include:
"[Relief Society] helps me to be able to learn more about the love that Heavenly Father has for his daughters."
"With all the teaching I received, I learned to be patient, I learned to be humble, I learned to give service. I also learned that I must continue to study and learn; the organization of Relief Society is truly magnificent."
"The teachings [taught in Relief Society gatherings] helped me become the woman I am today."
