Mormon women and girls from around the world are preparing to take part in a first-of-its-kind global conference.
On 29 March the first semi-annual women's meeting for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will take place in Salt Lake City, United States.
All Latter-day Saint women, young women, and girls eight years of age and older — and other interested girls and women — are invited to attend. Those who cannot attend in person in Salt Lake City, United States, will have the chance to participate via technology in their own countries.
During the conference, "prophets and general officers from all three women’s organizations [of the Church] will inspire, direct, and broaden the perspective of sisters ages eight and older," according to Church website LDS.org.
"The meeting will create new ways for women worldwide to connect, strengthen each other, and celebrate sisterhood."

Renee Solomon, a New Zealand Latter-day Saint, is excited at the prospect of taking part in the conference along side her daughter. They will watch a re-broadcast of the meeting in their local Latter-day Saint chapel.
“As my 10 year old daughter was reading through the ward newsletter yesterday in church, she read about the women’s broadcast that invited women to attend with a special invitation for mothers to bring their daughters eight years and older."
"My daughter excitedly looked at me and asked, 'Mum!, am I going to this too?'"
A look of excitement and joy spread across her face knowing that she is to be included as part of this special conference for women."
Mrs Solomon added: "Being a mother to a young daughter I am really looking forward to sharing this time with her so she can feel of the sisterhood, love and direction the Lord has for the women and girls of the Church. I know that attending together will provide opportunities for learning and growth for both of us individually and will also help strengthen our mother-daughter bond.”
The general women’s meeting will be held March 29, 2014 in the Conference Center in Salt Lake City, United States. The meeting will be re-broadcast in Mormon chapels across New Zealand the following Saturday, April 5, 2014, at 6.00pm.
Those wishing to attend a re-broadcast session in other countries may wish to speak with local Latter-day Saint leaders for more information.
The conference proceedings will be available in video, audio and text format at Mormon Channel, LDS.org and iTunes.
