LDS Charities and Local Volunteers Bring Clean Water to Fiji Village

13 households receive clean water in their homes

Clean drinking water is now available to 13 households in the village of Savarua, Fiji, due to a community and Church initiative.

The project was supported by The Church of jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and partners.

Drills hit water at 45 metres and a 10,000 litre water tank now stores the water.

Villagers built a tank base and dug trenches for piping that now brings water from the borehole to their homes.

LDS Charities partnered with the settlement and SUEZ, a world-wide drilling company, to complete the project.

Villagers formerly had only a non-potable source of water, and are extrememly grateful to finally have clean water. A visitor to the village reported that locals "cannot stop saying 'thank you!'"

Pacific Area president of the Church, Elder O. Vincent Haleck, will travel to Fiji to view the project later this week.
