FamilySearch International is the largest genealogy organisation in the world with a collection of over 8 billion names and record images. It is a nonprofit, volunteer-driven organisation sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

These newly released records are the Petty Sessions Registers 1858 - 1985, from Victoria. They are court records extracted from several different Archival Series and held by the Public Record Office Victoria in North Melbourne, Australia.

The records are arranged chronologically within each of the Magistrate Courts and contain brief details of minor criminal matters and committal proceedings.

Millions of people use FamilySearch records, resources, and services to learn more about their family history. To help in this great pursuit, FamilySearch and its predecessors have been actively gathering, preserving, and sharing genealogical records worldwide for over 100 years.

FamilySearch’s commitment to helping people connect with their ancestors is rooted in the Latter-day Saint belief that families are meant to be central to our lives and that family relationships are intended to continue beyond this life. Because interest in family history is not limited by culture, ethnicity, or religious faith, FamilySearch’s resources are available to everyone who wants to discover more about their family and their heritage.

Learn more at RootsTech Connect 2021, a free global celebration of family and connection, which will be held online 25–27 February.

FamilySearch services and resources are free online. Visit FamilySearch YouTube for more information.
