For Jayd and David their journey to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints began during a time when the world felt especially heavy.
However, a few months ago, Jayd came across a simple story on Instagram that caught her attention in a way she couldn’t explain. Something in her heart stirred and she felt a strong desire to learn more.
Not long after, missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ reached out. They were gentle, kind, and incredibly patient.
Jayd, reflecting on the experience, said, “The missionaries never pressured us or made us feel like we had to know everything – they just loved us and walked beside us as we explored the gospel.”

The teachings made sense. Our hearts were already beginning to understand The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was where we belonged.”
Since joining the Church, David and Jayd say they have felt a light enter their lives that helps push back the darkness they encounter in their work – Jayd is a family violence support specialist and David is a police officer.
The story of Jayd and David finding the gospel of Jesus Christ through social media is not a unique one. Today, missions around the world are using social media to find those seeking light in their lives.
The Australia Melbourne Mission has an assigned team who use social media to enhance the work of the mission. They share inspiring messages through videos and photos to lift people and teach the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Sister Wati, social media team leader and full-time missionary in the Australia Melbourne Mission, said, “We have spirit-led missionaries who are dedicated and are creative in what they do. We are supported by our mission leaders, President and Sister Thomas, and that makes all the difference. Serving on the social media team helps us to create content that is varied and inspired.”
“As a group of social media specialists, we work together to post messages that we hope will inspire and lift others. And if someone wants to learn more about our Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, we are happy to teach them gospel messages.
For those like Jayd and David, who are looking for spiritual direction, requesting more information through social media is the first step on a path leading to peace and betterment.
