Elder Pearson made special mention of the wives of the new stake leadership, called on Sunday, saying the women’s “loving support of their husbands” enabled the leaders to bless the lives of many others.
Leadership changes for the Tonga Nuku’alofa North Stake announced on Sunday included the callings of Ian Claude Tu’ihalangingle, Takaetali Tupou and Saimone Paea-he-Vaha Tonga. They are the new three-person presidency for the stake.
Congregations of the Church are organized geographically into “stakes.” Leadership of a stake is vested in the stake presidency consisting of the president and two counsellors.
Elder Pearson thanked the newly called leaders, and others who have served faithfully in the stake and community over the years.
In his remarks Elder Pearson also spoke about faith, obedience and blessings. “God wants us to prosper,” he said. “If you desire greater faith, you must raise your level of obedience.”
He further encouraged members in the congregation to “read again the April 2015 General Conference talks.”
Elder ‘Aisake Tukuafu accompanied Elder Pearson and also spoke at the stake conference.
Close to 1,200 members and guests of the Church attended the stake conference.
