Elder O. Vincent Haleck Meets with Vanuatu Prime Minister

Elder O. Vincent Haleck, First Counselor in the Pacific Area Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, met with Vanuatu Prime Minister, Mr Joe Natuman in Port Vila today.

Elder Haleck delivered a letter to Mr Natuman congratulating him on his recent election as Prime Minister of the Pacific nation. The letter was signed by the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

"We are grateful for Prime Minister Natuman's leadership of and service to the people of Vanuatu," Elder Haleck said.

There are over 6,000 members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Vanuatu, in 31 congregations.

“We encourage our members to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ, including to be honest, law-abiding citizens, and to contribute in positive ways in their villages and communities.” 

The Church works with governments, other churches and charities to bring humanitarian and other support to individuals, families and communities.

Last year the Church partnered with the World Health Organization to immunize 37,000 Vanuatuan children against measles.
