The leaders discussed their respective Christian family histories (President Heine is a descendant of European Protestant immigrants who helped establish congregations in the country) and the faith of the people of the Marshall Islands.

President Heine thanked Elder Jaggi for the Church of Jesus Christ’s ongoing positive impact on the country, including the goodness and contributions of Church members, and humanitarian efforts.

President Heine said that members of the Church of Jesus Christ were “good citizens.”

The Church has brought medical equipment and wheelchairs into the country as well as supported other efforts to lift lives, including offering self-reliance courses and access to BYU Pathway Worldwide, an educational service that helps people improve their English competence as well as bridge to online university studies.

The leaders discussed current needs of communities and identified ways the Church could support government efforts.

“It was a delightful opportunity for my wife Amy and I, and our friend, local Church leader Arlington Tibon, to meet with President Heine,” Elder Jaggi said.

“We thanked Her Excellency for her leadership in the country and offered our support by caring for those in need, strengthening families, and inviting all to follow Jesus Christ.”
