Elder James J. Hamula, a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and a former president of the Church's Pacific Area, was the first speaker in a new series of lectures called "Pioneers in Every Land" last month.
"Since the call of Joseph Smith’s younger brother Samuel as the first missionary of the Church in 1830, more than a million missionaries have been called and sent to preach the gospel to the nations of the earth," Elder Hamula said.
