Benjamin T. Sinjoux was called to serve as an Area Seventy in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints during the faith’s 185th Annual General Conference, 4 April 2015.
Area Seventies teach the gospel of Jesus Christ in a particular part of the world, such as the South Pacific, as will be the case for Elder Sinjoux.
Elder Sinjoux married Alexandre Tarita in December 1975. They are the parents of three adult children and have four grandchildren.

Elder Sinjoux has a long history of church service beginning in 1972 when he served as a young missionary in Canada, Quebec until 1974. He has also served as a bishop (lay minister) of a congregation and stake president (overseeing several congregations). He has also served in the Papeete Tahiti Temple.
Prior to his call as an Area Seventy, he served, along with his wife, as president of the Church’s Tahiti Papeete Mission from 2011-2014.
Elder Sinjoux earned a teaching certificate and a professional certificate in accounting at Lycee Taaone; studied business accounting at Brigham Young University Laie Hawaii from 1970-1972; and holds a degree in International Business.
In addition to his many years of church service, Elder Sinjoux continued to work full-time to provide for his family. He was a dedicated teacher beginning his career teaching in the Latter-day Saint-owned primary school, then located at the current Papeete Tahiti Temple site. He later worked in the Presiding Bishop’s Office for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Tahiti as financial records manager, and manager of the Church Service Centre, where he retired in 2011.
Elder Marama T. Tarati, also from French Polynesia, was released at general conference earlier this month after several years of service to the people of the Pacific Area.
