Clark G. Gilbert, the first president of BYU-Pathway Worldwide, is visiting Sydney and Auckland this week.
Operated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, BYU-Pathway Worldwide is an innovative online learning program designed to provide access to higher education wherever the Church is organized. It currently serves nearly 40,000 students in more than 500 locations around the world.
President Gilbert has previously served as the 16th president of Brigham Young University-Idaho, as CEO of Deseret News Publishing Company and Deseret Digital Media, and taught as a professor of entrepreneurial management at the Harvard Business School.
President Gilbert graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor’s degree in international relations. He earned a master’s degree in East Asian studies from Stanford University and a doctorate degree in business administration from the Harvard Business School.
He has served in multiple volunteer roles within the Church including teacher and congregational leader.
President Gilbert and his wife, Christine, are the parents of eight children.
While in Sydney and Auckland he will be meeting with current and prospective students.
In 2017, BYU-Pathway Worldwide served more than 1,200 students at 34 sites across the South Pacific.
