Community leaders gathered at Cashmere High School yesterday to mark the 25,000th lunch provided to Linwood High School students this term.
Member of Parliament Nicky Wagner, Linwood High School Principal Margaret Paiti and Melanie Riwai-Couch, a representative of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints were on site with Linwood College students for the serving of the 25,000th lunch as part of the 'Lunches for Linwood' project.
The lunches have been provided free during term two to support the Linwood College students and their families who were hit hard by severe earthquakes over the last several months.

The students catch busses to and from the Cashmere High School campus due to earthquake damage to their own school buildings. The extra travel means long days and many students were missing meals and turning up for class hungry.
Students, parents and teachers have welcomed the lunches saying they have helped to settle the students into a good routine and be ready to learn.
The Lunches for Linwood project has been paid for by members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who are actively involved in welfare and humanitarian projects locally and internationally.
