Church Donation Will Improve Citizens' Access to Tongan Health Services

A vehicle, a new ramp, handrails, and an upcoming renovation was donated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to Tonga Health Promotion Foundation (Tonga Health) in a handover ceremony on Thursday, 27 October 2022.

Attending the event was Elder K. Brett Nattress, Pacific Area President & Sister Shawna Nattress, Elder Sione Tuione, Area Seventy, ‘Ofeina Filimoehala, CEO of Tonga Health, Veivosa Taka, Tonga Health Board member, Silonga Samani, Humanitarian Aid Tonga.

Elder Nattress made the presentation to Ms.‘Ofeina Filimoehala, CEO of Tonga Health thanking her for the work that the organisation does to help people enjoy healthier lives.

He explained that members of the Church are always looking for opportunities to serve in their communities.

“When [we] are in the service of our fellow beings we are only in the service of our God” (Mosiah 2:17), Elder Nattress said, quoting from the Book of Mormon.

Filimoehala expressed gratitude for the assistance saying that the donation will be “treasure[d] in the hearts of the people.

The donated equipment and repairs will help improve Tongans' access to the health services.
