Community Christmas Devotional in Christchurch Focuses on Service

On Sunday, 17 December, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints hosted a Community Christmas Devotional.

President Jared V. Ormsby, Latter-day Saint leader presided at the devotional held at the chapel on Fendalton Road in Christchurch.

His address focused on service and more particularly the #LightTheWorld service initiave. Now in it's second year, the initiave is a worldwide effort that invites people to serve others in 25 ways for 25 days starting 1 December through Christmas Day.

Scripture readings on the events of Jesus Christ's birth were followed by congregational singing of familiar Christmas hymns.

Hon Dr. Megan Woods, MP for Wigram, Minister of Energy and Resources, Greater Christchurch Regeneration, Research, Science and Innovation, and Minister Responsible for the Earthquake commission, was guest speaker at the devotional.

Her message spoke of caring for our neighbours, serving each other and the wider community.
