The Brigham Young University "Living Legends" performing group brought audiences to their feet in two dynamic performances this weekend in Auckland, New Zealand.
New Zealanders can still catch the Living Legends five more times in two performances in Hamilton’s Clarence Street Theatre, 9 May; two in Napier’s Municipal Theatre, 11 May; and one final show at the historical Wellington Opera House, 13 May.
They will also perform civic outreach activities and hold devotionals at most of these locations.
Composed of 30 student-performers, the Living Legends group celebrates the native cultural heritages of North, Central and South America, and the South Pacific, in a vibrant spectacle of energy, music, regalia, and dance. As they take the stage, talented performers capture the rhythms of Polynesia, portray the fascinating legends of Native American people, and dazzle the senses with the energy of Latin America.
Both the lavish attire and the intricate choreography are authentic representations of the showcased cultures.
Auckland audience members stomped their feet, enthusiastically clapped their hands and cheered loudly, and waved national flags in approval.
Tickets for the Hamilton and Napier shows are going fast and are available online at https://premier.ticketek.co.nz. Meanwhile, good seats are still available for the Wellington performance, and can be purchased at https://www.ticketmaster.co.nz.
Following the conclusion of the New Zealand portion of their tour, the BYU Living Legends will travel to French Polynesia, for one show in Mataiea’s Le Chapiteau de la Marina, Pointe Tehoro on 16 May (tickets available at the box office), two shows in Papeete’s Grand Theatre on 17 May (Tickets online at https://billetterie.maisondelaculture.pf) and one non-ticketed event at Opunohu, Moorea’s Te Fare Natura on May 18.
Brigham Young University is located in Provo, Utah, USA, and is owned and operated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
