Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Ashburton, New Zealand cleaned a community skate park and car park on Saturday 20 February.
Wearing yellow “Mormon Helping Hands” vests, the volunteers spent several hours beautifying the recreational and community facilities.
According to the Ashburton Guardian newspaper, “Church-goers are doing their part to ensure Ashburton is clean and green. Helping Hands operates within The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and performs voluntary community service and also responds to natural disasters.”
The newspaper quoted local Latter-day Saint leader, Bishop Moea Pongia, who said: “The Church loves the Ashburton community and felt honoured to provide a day of service to help out.”
