Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from the island of Aunuu recently took a ferry ride to Pago Pago to sing for their fellow American Samoans on the Viiga O Siona television broadcast.
According to the Church’s American Samoan director of public affairs, Kalilimoku Hunt, the choir members’ “determination and willingness to light the world with their performance was fantastic.”
They were old and young, experienced and novice, but “they all showed faith and dedication to Heavenly Father’s work” through their participation.
According to one listener, the music and spoken word shared on the day was testimony to the love of God for His children.
Aunuu is a small volcanic island, located on the Southeast of Tutuila in American Samoa.
The Viiga O Siona broadcast features choirs from across American Samoa. The music is of a sacred nature and remarks are often made by a local leader or another member of the congregation.
An opening prayer was offered by Elder Laulu Sakalia before a selection of hymns were sung by the choir. An inspiring message was delivered by Bishop Ietitaia L. Sa’au.
