For Albert Ryter, 86, giving charitable service is a way of life. He has been helping his local congregation of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and wider community, for decades.
His most recent service was to help load school furniture, books and sporting equipment onto a container bound for Samoa.
The books were obtained from the The Corelli International Academic School of the Arts in Browns Bay, Auckland.
The shipment is being organised by Furniture for Schools Charitable Trust and being sent to Samoa by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The furniture, books and other equipment will be delivered to students and teachers in Samoa.
Co-Founder of Furniture for Schools Charitable Trust, John McLean, said, "We couldn't do what we do without wonderful school communities and leaders such as those at The Corelli International Academic School of the Arts, as well as kind and helpful volunteers, like Alby."
