In a heart-warming “Light the World” celebration of the Christmas season, a ‘Night in Bethlehem’ event in Adelaide, Australia brought together families and friends for an evening of joy, reflection, and giving.
Hosted near the Adelaide Australia Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter -day Saints, this unique community activity included a picnic dinner and a stunning theatrical presentation recounting the events surrounding the birth of Jesus Christ.
The festivities began with a community picnic, then the main event commenced: a dramatic retelling of the nativity story, blending scripture from The Holy Bible and The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ.
One guest, Vivian, said, “I loved that all the singers were well-chosen.”
Another attendee, Juliet, said, “I was impressed by the practical effects and the smooth flow of the musical elements. It was more of a musical than a simple presentation.”
In the spirit of Christmas, attendees donated generously to support Foodbank SA & NT, the largest food relief organization in the region.
Foodbank works with farmers, manufacturers, and grocery industries to provide essential food items for over 700 community agencies and 550 school programs across South Australia and the North Territory.
A Foodbank representative said, “Tonight, we thank you for giving generously to help further support the work Foodbank is doing in South Australia and Northern Territory. Your generosity will put food on the table for those who need it most this Christmas.”
The “Night in Bethlehem” was not just a showcase of artistic talent and storytelling, but a reminder of the community’s power when united in faith and generosity. This special evening served as a powerful reminder of the true meaning of Christmas – celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ and sharing love and support with others.
